Cross Section: Mesh refinement

Stress results are strongly dependent on the chosen mesh refinement of the cross section. To make a mesh refinement easier, the program offers different opportunities.

Attention: If stiffeners lay on an element, then the element edge touching the stiffener and its opposite one will be sub-divided automatically and all other defined sub-divisions are ignored.

Local mesh refinement around a reference point

The program tries to sub-divide elements around the reference point. If a conflict with an user defines sub-division of these elements occurs, then the refinement will not be executed.

User defined element sub-division

The sub-division of elements can be defined for each element directly. The user is responsible to produce a correct mesh.

Priority (descending)
Global mesh refinement of all elements of the cross section

This mesh refinement will be executed at the FE-cross section. All element edges will be sub-divided by the specified number. This refinement can always be executed, but under circumstances a lot of elements will be generated (calculation time!).
